  1. 1. Wash the basilica thoroughly and dry it.
  2. 2. Remove the thick stems from the basilica.
  3. 3. Take four nice basilica leaves for decoration and set them aside.
  4. 4. Cut the lime in half.
  5. 5. Squeeze the juice of the lime.
  6. 6. Rinse the cucumber.
  7. 7. Peel four long strips from the cucumber skin with a peeler.
  8. 8. Set the cucumber strips aside for decoration.
  9. 9. Peel the rest of the cucumber.
  10. 10. Cut the peeled cucumber into coarse pieces.
  11. 11. Put the cucumber pieces, the basilica, the sugar, the lime juice, the gin and the water in a tall container.
  12. 12. Puree the mixture very finely.
  13. 13. Pour the mixture through a sieve into a measuring cup.
  14. 14. Distribute the ice cubes on four glasses.
  15. 15. Pour the cucumber gimlet over the ice cubes.
  16. 16. Decorate each glass with a cucumber strip and a basilica leaf.
  17. 17. Serve the drink and cheers!
