  1. 1. Crumble the yeast into a small bowl.
  2. 2. Mix the yeast with the sugar and 50 milliliters of lukewarm water.
  3. 3. Let the mixture stand covered for about 10 minutes until it foams.
  4. 4. Add the flour, half a teaspoon of salt, the oil, and another 75 milliliters of lukewarm water to the bowl.
  5. 5. Knead everything into a smooth dough.
  6. 6. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes until it has doubled in size.
  7. 7. Preheat the oven to 225 degrees Celsius (top and bottom heat).
  8. 8. Knead the dough briefly and divide it into two equal halves.
  9. 9. Knead oregano into one of the two dough halves.
  10. 10. Divide each dough half into 8 small pieces.
  11. 11. Work with floured hands and roll the pieces into long, thin sticks.
  12. 12. Place the sticks on two baking sheets lined with baking paper.
  13. 13. Bake the grissini one after the other for about 12 minutes in the oven.
  14. 14. Turn the sticks over after half the baking time (i.e., after 6 minutes).
  15. 15. Let the finished grissini cool on the tray.
  16. 16. Serve the crispy sticks as desired.
