  1. 1. Thoroughly wash the broccoli under running water.
  2. 2. Divide the broccoli into small florets of about 2 centimeters.
  3. 3. Fill a pot with salted water to a depth of about 2 centimeters.
  4. 4. Bring the water in the pot to a boil.
  5. 5. Add the broccoli florets to the boiling water.
  6. 6. Cook the broccoli covered for approx. 3 minutes.
  7. 7. Drain the broccoli in a colander to remove the water.
  8. 8. Bring approx. 4 liters of salted water to a boil in a different pot.
  9. 9. Halve the red onion and peel it.
  10. 10. Cut the onion into fine cubes.
  11. 11. Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  12. 12. Add the onion cubes to the hot pan.
  13. 13. Sweat the onions for approx. 2 minutes.
  14. 14. Wash the cherry tomatoes.
  15. 15. Add the tomatoes to the onions in the pan.
  16. 16. Fry the tomatoes for approx. 1 minute.
  17. 17. Deglaze the pan with cream.
  18. 18. Wash the basil.
  19. 19. Shake the basil dry.
  20. 20. Finely chop half of the basil.
  21. 21. Add the drained broccoli to the pan.
  22. 22. Add the chopped basil to the pan.
  23. 23. Simmer the mixture over medium heat for approx. 5 minutes.
  24. 24. Stir the mixture occasionally.
  25. 25. Add the gnocchi to the bubbling salted water.
  26. 26. Make sure the water is not boiling too vigorously.
  27. 27. Let the gnocchi sit for approx. 4 minutes.
  28. 28. Remove the gnocchi from the water as soon as they float to the surface.
  29. 29. Drain the gnocchi in a colander.
  30. 30. Season the broccoli-tomato mix with salt and pepper.
  31. 31. Plate the gnocchi.
  32. 32. Pour the cream vegetable mixture over the gnocchi.
  33. 33. Tear the mozzarella into small pieces.
  34. 34. Distribute the mozzarella over the dish.
  35. 35. Tear the remaining fresh basil over the dish.
  36. 36. Serve the dish immediately.
