  1. 1. Put the soft butter, sugar, and vanilla sugar into a large bowl.
  2. 2. Beat the mixture with a hand mixer and whisk until creamy.
  3. 3. Add the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and chocolate shavings to the bowl.
  4. 4. Mix the ingredients briefly with the mixer until a dough forms.
  5. 5. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
  6. 6. Shape the dough into a roll about five centimeters thick.
  7. 7. Cut about sixteen cookies from the roll.
  8. 8. Place the cookies with plenty of space between them on baking sheets lined with baking paper.
  9. 9. Press the cookies down slightly until they are about six centimeters in diameter.
  10. 10. Bake the trays one after the other in the preheated oven for about twelve minutes.
  11. 11. Remove the cookies when they are crunchy and lightly browned.
  12. 12. Let the cookies cool down completely.
  13. 13. Store the cooled cookies in airtight containers.
