🍽️ Tender Goulash with Potato Dumplings

Ingredients
- soup vegetables 1 bunch
- onions, yellow 2 pcs.
- beef goulash 600 g
- oil 4 tbsp
- salt pinch
- pepper, black ground pinch
- cinnamon pinch
- red wine, dry 100 ml
- beef broth 600 ml
- juniper berries 4 pcs.
- bay leaves, dried 2 pcs.
- chocolate, dark 50 g
- gnocchi, fresh 500 g
Instructions
- 1. Thoroughly wash the soup vegetables. Peel them if necessary and cut them into small cubes.
- 2. Halve the onions and remove the skin. Cut them into cubes as well.
- 3. Rinse the meat under running water. Then pat it dry with a kitchen towel.
- 4. Heat the oil in a large pot over high heat.
- 5. Sear the meat in batches for 3 to 5 minutes until browned.
- 6. Season the meat with salt, pepper, and cinnamon while frying.
- 7. Remove the browned meat from the pot and set it aside.
- 8. Add the prepared vegetables and onions to the hot fat in the pot.
- 9. Fry the vegetables for about 3 minutes.
- 10. Return the meat to the pot with the vegetables.
- 11. Deglaze the mixture with red wine.
- 12. Add the broth and bring everything to a boil.
- 13. Place the juniper berries and bay leaves into a tea filter.
- 14. Tie the filter closed and add it to the pot.
- 15. Let the goulash simmer for about 2 hours over low to medium heat.
- 16. Add more broth if necessary to prevent the dish from drying out.
- 17. Chop the chocolate into small pieces.
- 18. Remove the spice bag from the pot 15 minutes before the end of the cooking time.
- 19. Add the chocolate pieces to the goulash.
- 20. Continue to cook the goulash over low heat until the chocolate has melted.
- 21. Bring water to a boil in a pot and add salt.
- 22. Cook the gnocchi in the boiling salted water for approx. 3 minutes.
- 23. Drain the gnocchi in a sieve and let them drip dry.
- 24. Serve the goulash with the gnocchi.
