🍽️ Fried Kasseler with Apple Sauerkraut and Baked Potatoes

Ingredients
- potatoes, mainly waxy 1 kg
- oil 4 tbsp
- salt pinch
- pepper, black ground pinch
- onions, yellow 1 pc
- apples, red 1 pc
- sugar 1 tbsp
- sauerkraut 500 g
- bay leaves, dried 1 pc
- water 100 ml
- Kasseler, in one piece 600 g
- wheat flour, Type 405 2 tbsp
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius with fan.
- 2. Wash the potatoes thoroughly.
- 3. Cut the potatoes in half.
- 4. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
- 5. Place the potato halves on the tray.
- 6. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of oil over the potatoes.
- 7. Season the potatoes with salt and pepper.
- 8. Spread the potatoes evenly on the tray.
- 9. Bake the potatoes in the oven for about 30 minutes.
- 10. Halve the onion.
- 11. Peel the onion.
- 12. Cut the onion into thin strips.
- 13. Wash the apple.
- 14. Peel the apple.
- 15. Remove the core of the apple.
- 16. Cut the apple into coarse cubes.
- 17. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pot over medium heat.
- 18. Add the apple cubes to the pot.
- 19. Add the onion strips to the pot.
- 20. Add the sugar to the pot.
- 21. Fry the ingredients for 2 to 3 minutes.
- 22. Add the sauerkraut to the pot.
- 23. Add the bay leaf to the pot.
- 24. Add water to the pot.
- 25. Cover the pot.
- 26. Let the sauerkraut simmer for approx. 20 minutes on low heat.
- 27. Cut the Kasseler into slices.
- 28. The slices should be approx. 2 cm thick.
- 29. Spread the flour on a plate.
- 30. Coat the Kasseler slices in the flour.
- 31. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a frying pan over high heat.
- 32. Fry the Kasseler slices on both sides.
- 33. The frying time is approx. 3 minutes per side.
- 34. Take the baked potatoes out of the oven.
- 35. Season the apple sauerkraut with salt.
- 36. Season the apple sauerkraut with pepper.
- 37. Serve the apple sauerkraut together with the fried Kasseler.
