  2. 2. Stir in about 150 grams of flour gradually until you have a smooth batter.
  3. 3. Season the batter with salt and pepper.
  4. 4. Place the batter in a cool spot for about one hour.
  5. 5. Peel the onions while you wait.
  6. 6. Cut the onions into rings about one centimeter thick.
  7. 7. Place the onion rings on a plate.
  8. 8. Keep the onion rings cool for a while as well.
  9. 9. Put the remaining flour on a clean plate.
  10. 10. Mix a pinch of salt into the flour on the plate.
  11. 11. Pour oil into a frying pan.
  12. 12. Fill the oil to a depth of about one to two centimeters.
  13. 13. Heat the oil over medium to high heat.
  14. 14. Take some onion rings out of the cool spot.
  15. 15. Coat the onion rings in the seasoned flour.
  16. 16. Dip the floured rings completely into the beer batter.
  17. 17. Let the excess batter drip off for a moment.
  18. 18. Fry the rings in batches in the hot oil.
  19. 19. Fry the rings for about four minutes.
  20. 20. Turn the rings occasionally so they turn golden brown evenly.
  21. 21. Remove the finished rings from the oil.
  22. 22. Place the rings on kitchen paper.
  23. 23. Let the excess oil drain off.
  24. 24. Sprinkle the rings with a little more salt.
  25. 25. Serve the onion rings hot.
