🍳 Savory French Toast Buns with Crispy Bacon and Melted Cheese

Ingredients
- Spring onions 2 pcs.
- Eggs 2 pcs.
- Milk 100 ml
- Salt 1 pinch
- Pepper, black ground 1 pinch
- Bacon strips 125 g
- Butter 2 tbsp
- Whole wheat toast 8 slices
- Gouda, grated 80 g
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the spring onions under running water and pat them dry with a kitchen towel.
- 2. Remove the tough root ends of the spring onions and slice the remaining parts into thin rings.
- 3. Whisk the eggs in a separate bowl.
- 4. Add the milk to the eggs and stir the mixture well with a spoon or fork.
- 5. Season the egg-milk mixture with a pinch of salt and freshly ground pepper.
- 6. Heat a non-stick pan on a high stove burner.
- 7. Place the bacon strips in the hot pan and fry them for about 2 minutes until crispy.
- 8. Add the sliced spring onions to the pan and fry them for approx. 1 minute along with the bacon.
- 9. Remove the bacon and onions from the pan and place them on a plate.
- 10. Add a piece of butter to the still hot pan and melt it over medium heat.
- 11. Dip a slice of toast bread briefly into the egg-milk mixture so that it absorbs the liquid.
- 12. Place the soaked toast bread in the hot butter and fry it on one side for about 2 minutes until golden brown.
- 13. Turn the toast bread over to the other side.
- 14. Sprinkle cheese over the surface of the toast bread.
- 15. Fry the toast bread for another approx. 2 minutes until the cheese is completely melted.
- 16. Place the finished French toast on a plate.
- 17. Garnish the dish with the previously fried bacon and spring onions.
- 18. Serve the dish immediately while hot and enjoy.
