  1. 1. Peel the potatoes and wash them thoroughly.
  2. 2. Cut the peeled potatoes into coarse cubes.
  3. 3. Place the potato cubes in a pot with salted water.
  4. 4. Bring the water to a boil.
  5. 5. Cover the pot and cook the potatoes for about 20 minutes.
  6. 6. Cut an onion in half and peel it.
  7. 7. Dice the peeled onion finely.
  8. 8. Peel a clove of garlic.
  9. 9. Chop the garlic finely.
  10. 10. Heat some oil in a pot.
  11. 11. Add half of the onion cubes and the garlic to the hot oil.
  12. 12. Sauté the vegetables for about 2 minutes.
  13. 13. Deglaze the mixture with tomatoes.
  14. 14. Season the sauce with salt, pepper, and a pinch of sugar.
  15. 15. Let the sauce simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes.
  16. 16. Take a bowl and add the remaining onion and garlic cubes.
  17. 17. Add the minced meat to the bowl.
  18. 18. Add an egg to the bowl.
  19. 19. Add breadcrumbs to the bowl.
  20. 20. Season the mixture with salt and pepper.
  21. 21. Add herbs de Provence to the bowl.
  22. 22. Mix all ingredients in the bowl thoroughly.
  23. 23. Form small balls with a diameter of about 2 cm from the meat mixture.
  24. 24. Preheat the oven to 200 °C fan.
  25. 25. Drain the cooked potatoes.
  26. 26. Use a lid to keep the potatoes in the pot.
  27. 27. Add sour cream to the drained potatoes.
  28. 28. Season the potatoes with salt and pepper.
  29. 29. Mash the potatoes in the pot.
  30. 30. Place the tomato sauce in a baking dish.
  31. 31. Place the meatballs in the sauce.
  32. 32. Spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the meatballs.
  33. 33. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven.
  34. 34. Bake the dish for about 20 minutes.
  35. 35. Remove the baking dish from the oven.
  36. 36. Let the dish cool down for a short while.
