Ingredients
- oranges 2 pcs
- red wine, dry 2 L
- cinnamon stick 1 pcs
- cloves 2 pcs
- loaf sugar 1 pcs
- dark rum 400 ml
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the oranges under running water.
- 2. Finely grate about two teaspoons of the orange peel.
- 3. Slice the oranges into thin rounds.
- 4. Place the orange slices and grated peel into a large pot.
- 5. Pour the red wine over the oranges in the pot.
- 6. Add a cinnamon stick and some cloves to the mixture.
- 7. Warm the punch over low heat.
- 8. Avoid bringing the liquid to a boil.
- 9. Place a sugar loaf on a metal tong.
- 10. Hold the tong with the sugar loaf over the pot.
- 11. Slowly drizzle rum over the sugar loaf.
- 12. Repeat the wetting until the sugar is completely soaked.
- 13. Ignite the sugar loaf with a lighter.
- 14. Wait for the burning sugar and rum to drip into the punch.
- 15. Pour a little more rum if the flame weakens.
- 16. Wait until the sugar is completely melted.
- 17. Let the melted sugar flow into the red wine.
- 18. Stir the finished punch well.
- 19. Pour the punch into cups.
