🍰 Colorful Window Cookies for Hanging

Ingredients
- flour, Type 405 250 g
- salt pinch
- baking powder 0.5 tsp
- orange zest, grated 25 g
- cinnamon 1 tsp
- butter 60 g
- brown sugar 60 g
- eggs 1 pc.
- honey 50 g
- candies 20 pc.
Instructions
- 1. Mix flour, salt, baking powder, grated orange zest, and cinnamon in a bowl.
- 2. Beat the softened butter in a separate bowl using a hand mixer with a whisk until fluffy.
- 3. Gradually stir in sugar and an egg into the butter and mix everything well.
- 4. Stir the honey into the butter-sugar mixture.
- 5. Add the flour mixture gradually and knead everything into a smooth dough.
- 6. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill it in the refrigerator for about 60 minutes.
- 7. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a thickness of about 3 millimeters using a rolling pin.
- 8. Cut out rectangles or squares from the dough using cookie cutters.
- 9. Place the cut-out cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 10. Punch 2 to 4 small windows into each cookie using a small cutter.
- 11. Make a hole for hanging in the dough using the back of a wooden skewer.
- 12. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
- 13. Place the candies in a freezer bag and crush them with a wooden spoon.
- 14. Evenly sprinkle the crushed candy pieces into the windows of the cookies.
- 15. Distribute the candy pieces in the windows using a brush.
- 16. Bake the cookies on the middle rack for about 8 minutes until golden brown.
- 17. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet.
- 18. Carefully remove the cookies from the baking sheet.
- 19. Hang the cookies on a string.
- 20. Optionally place the cookies in a gingerbread house and serve them.
