  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius with fan.
  2. 2. Grease a bundt cake pan with one tablespoon of butter.
  3. 3. Dust the pan with breadcrumbs and shake out any excess.
  4. 4. Drain the cherries in a sieve.
  5. 5. Catch the cherry juice in a small container.
  6. 6. Pat the cherries dry with a kitchen towel.
  7. 7. Set the cherries aside.
  8. 8. Put butter, sugar, vanilla sugar, and eggs into a mixing bowl.
  9. 9. Beat the ingredients for one minute on speed 4 until frothy.
  10. 10. Scrape down the sides of the mixing bowl with a spatula.
  11. 11. Add flour, baking powder, eggnog liqueur, and a pinch of salt.
  12. 12. Mix everything for two minutes on speed 4.
  13. 13. Fold the cherries into the batter in a separate bowl.
  14. 14. Pour the mixture into the prepared bundt pan.
  15. 15. Bake the cake for about 70 minutes on the lowest rack.
  16. 16. Cover the pan with aluminum foil after 50 minutes.
  17. 17. Check the baking time with a wooden skewer.
  18. 18. Extend the baking time if the skewer still comes out moist.
  19. 19. Let the cake cool almost completely in the pan.
  20. 20. Turn the cake out onto a cake rack.
  21. 21. Mix powdered sugar with one to two tablespoons of cherry juice.
  22. 22. Stir the glaze until smooth.
  23. 23. Brush the cake with the glaze using a pastry brush.
