  1. 1. Whisk honey, soy sauce, half a teaspoon of pepper, and paprika powder together in a small bowl.
  2. 2. Thoroughly wash the chicken drumsticks and pat them dry with kitchen paper.
  3. 3. Carefully loosen the skin at the bottom of the drumsticks from the meat without tearing it.
  4. 4. Spread half of the marinade under the loosened skin directly onto the meat.
  5. 5. Place the skin back over the meat and press it down gently.
  6. 6. Spread the remaining marinade evenly over the outside of the chicken drumsticks.
  7. 7. Let the marinated drumsticks rest at room temperature for about 20 minutes.
  8. 8. Wash the bell peppers and remove the stem and seeds.
  9. 9. Cut the bell peppers into small cubes.
  10. 10. Halve the onion, peel it, and cut it into fine cubes as well.
  11. 11. Peel the garlic and chop it finely.
  12. 12. Heat oil in a pot over medium heat.
  13. 13. Add the onion, garlic, and pepper cubes to the pot and sauté them for about 1 minute.
  14. 14. Add the broth and let the vegetables cook covered for about 5 minutes over low heat.
  15. 15. Stir tomato paste and vinegar into the vegetable mixture.
  16. 16. Season the salsa to taste with salt, chili, and brown sugar.
  17. 17. Let the salsa cool down completely.
  18. 18. Fill half of the marinated chicken drumsticks into the basket of the air fryer.
  19. 19. Cook the drumsticks at 160 degrees Celsius for 12 minutes.
  20. 20. Turn the drumsticks and cook them for another 12 minutes at the same temperature.
  21. 21. Check if the meat pulls away easily from the bone to confirm it is cooked.
  22. 22. Wash the basil and shake it dry.
  23. 23. Pluck the basil leaves from the stems.
  24. 24. Cook the remaining chicken drumsticks in the same way in the air fryer.
  25. 25. Pour the drained marinade from the fryer basket into the cooled salsa.
  26. 26. Season the finished chicken drumsticks with a little salt if needed.
  27. 27. Serve the drumsticks with the paprika salsa and fresh basil leaves.
