🍽️ Crispy Chicken Drumsticks from the Air Fryer with Fresh Paprika Dip

Ingredients
- Honey 1 tbsp
- Soy sauce 1 tbsp
- Pepper, black ground pinch
- Paprika, sweet 1 tbsp
- Chicken drumsticks 1.2 kg
- Paprika, red 2 pcs
- Paprika, yellow 1 pc
- Onions, red 1 pc
- Garlic cloves 1 pc
- Rapeseed oil 2 tbsp
- Vegetable broth 150 ml
- Tomato paste 2 tbsp
- Apple cider vinegar 2 tbsp
- Salt pinch
- Chili, ground pinch
- Brown sugar 2 tbsp
- Basil, fresh 5 g
Instructions
- 1. Whisk honey, soy sauce, half a teaspoon of pepper, and paprika powder together in a small bowl.
- 2. Thoroughly wash the chicken drumsticks and pat them dry with kitchen paper.
- 3. Carefully loosen the skin at the bottom of the drumsticks from the meat without tearing it.
- 4. Spread half of the marinade under the loosened skin directly onto the meat.
- 5. Place the skin back over the meat and press it down gently.
- 6. Spread the remaining marinade evenly over the outside of the chicken drumsticks.
- 7. Let the marinated drumsticks rest at room temperature for about 20 minutes.
- 8. Wash the bell peppers and remove the stem and seeds.
- 9. Cut the bell peppers into small cubes.
- 10. Halve the onion, peel it, and cut it into fine cubes as well.
- 11. Peel the garlic and chop it finely.
- 12. Heat oil in a pot over medium heat.
- 13. Add the onion, garlic, and pepper cubes to the pot and sauté them for about 1 minute.
- 14. Add the broth and let the vegetables cook covered for about 5 minutes over low heat.
- 15. Stir tomato paste and vinegar into the vegetable mixture.
- 16. Season the salsa to taste with salt, chili, and brown sugar.
- 17. Let the salsa cool down completely.
- 18. Fill half of the marinated chicken drumsticks into the basket of the air fryer.
- 19. Cook the drumsticks at 160 degrees Celsius for 12 minutes.
- 20. Turn the drumsticks and cook them for another 12 minutes at the same temperature.
- 21. Check if the meat pulls away easily from the bone to confirm it is cooked.
- 22. Wash the basil and shake it dry.
- 23. Pluck the basil leaves from the stems.
- 24. Cook the remaining chicken drumsticks in the same way in the air fryer.
- 25. Pour the drained marinade from the fryer basket into the cooled salsa.
- 26. Season the finished chicken drumsticks with a little salt if needed.
- 27. Serve the drumsticks with the paprika salsa and fresh basil leaves.
