🍰 Crunchy Donuts with Nut Glaze

Ingredients
- milk 200 ml
- yeast, fresh 0.5 pcs
- sugar 70 g
- wheat flour, Type 405 400 g
- salt pinch
- butter 50 g
- eggs 1 pcs
- sunflower oil 1 L
- powdered sugar 125 g
- honey 2 tbsp
- pecan nuts 20 g
Instructions
- 1. Warm the milk in a small pot for about 1 minute until it is lukewarm.
- 2. Crumble the fresh yeast into a small bowl.
- 3. Dissolve the yeast together with 1 tablespoon of sugar in the lukewarm milk.
- 4. Cover the yeast milk and let it rest in a warm place for about 15 minutes.
- 5. Mix the remaining sugar, flour, salt, and cubed butter in a large bowl.
- 6. Pour the yeast milk and the egg into the flour mixture.
- 7. Knead the ingredients into a smooth dough.
- 8. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel.
- 9. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until it has doubled in size.
- 10. Lightly dust a work surface with flour.
- 11. Roll out the dough on the floured surface to a thickness of about 1.5 cm.
- 12. Cut out circles with a diameter of approx. 8 cm from the dough using a round cutter.
- 13. Cut out a smaller circle from the center of each circle to create the donut shape.
- 14. Heat frying oil in a pot.
- 15. Test the oil temperature by holding a wooden spoon handle in the oil; small bubbles should rise.
- 16. Fry the donuts in batches in the hot oil.
- 17. Fry the donuts on both sides for approx. 2–3 minutes each until golden brown.
- 18. Remove the finished donuts from the oil and let them drain on kitchen paper.
- 19. Let the donuts cool completely on the kitchen paper.
- 20. Sift the powdered sugar into a small bowl.
- 21. Mix the powdered sugar with the honey.
- 22. Add a little water if necessary until you get a glaze that is not too runny.
- 23. Chop the nuts coarsely.
- 24. Dip one side of the cooled donuts carefully into the glaze.
- 25. Let the excess glaze drip off for a moment.
- 26. Immediately sprinkle the glazed side with the chopped nuts.
- 27. Serve the finished donuts with nut topping and enjoy!
