  1. 1. Warm the milk in a small pot for about 1 minute until it is lukewarm.
  2. 2. Crumble the fresh yeast into a small bowl.
  3. 3. Dissolve the yeast together with 1 tablespoon of sugar in the lukewarm milk.
  4. 4. Cover the yeast milk and let it rest in a warm place for about 15 minutes.
  5. 5. Mix the remaining sugar, flour, salt, and cubed butter in a large bowl.
  6. 6. Pour the yeast milk and the egg into the flour mixture.
  7. 7. Knead the ingredients into a smooth dough.
  8. 8. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel.
  9. 9. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until it has doubled in size.
  10. 10. Lightly dust a work surface with flour.
  11. 11. Roll out the dough on the floured surface to a thickness of about 1.5 cm.
  12. 12. Cut out circles with a diameter of approx. 8 cm from the dough using a round cutter.
  13. 13. Cut out a smaller circle from the center of each circle to create the donut shape.
  14. 14. Heat frying oil in a pot.
  15. 15. Test the oil temperature by holding a wooden spoon handle in the oil; small bubbles should rise.
  16. 16. Fry the donuts in batches in the hot oil.
  17. 17. Fry the donuts on both sides for approx. 2–3 minutes each until golden brown.
  18. 18. Remove the finished donuts from the oil and let them drain on kitchen paper.
  19. 19. Let the donuts cool completely on the kitchen paper.
  20. 20. Sift the powdered sugar into a small bowl.
  21. 21. Mix the powdered sugar with the honey.
  22. 22. Add a little water if necessary until you get a glaze that is not too runny.
  23. 23. Chop the nuts coarsely.
  24. 24. Dip one side of the cooled donuts carefully into the glaze.
  25. 25. Let the excess glaze drip off for a moment.
  26. 26. Immediately sprinkle the glazed side with the chopped nuts.
  27. 27. Serve the finished donuts with nut topping and enjoy!
