  1. 1. In a bowl, dissolve the yeast with sugar in lukewarm water and let it rest covered for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, peel the apples, halve them, remove the core, and grate them coarsely.
  2. 2. Add the spelt flour and salt along with the apples to the bowl and knead everything into a smooth dough using your hands. Let the dough rise in a warm place, covered, for about 1 hour, until it has doubled in size.
  3. 3. Preheat the oven to 200 °C (top/bottom heat). Bake the bread in the oven for about 55–60 minutes. Enjoy your meal! Tip: The bread can also be baked in a cast-iron pot. To do this, preheat the pot in the oven along with it.
