  1. 1. Wash the plums thoroughly.
  2. 2. Halve the plums and remove the pits.
  3. 3. Put 3 tablespoons of sugar into a pot.
  4. 4. Melt the sugar over medium heat for about 2 minutes.
  5. 5. Deglaze the browning sugar with 50 milliliters of water.
  6. 6. Let the sugar-water mixture simmer gently for 1 to 2 minutes.
  7. 7. Halve the vanilla pod lengthwise.
  8. 8. Scrape the vanilla seeds out of the pod using the back of a knife.
  9. 9. Add the plums, cinnamon, and the vanilla pod with the seeds to the pot.
  10. 10. Let the compote simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes.
  11. 11. Stir the compote occasionally.
  12. 12. Set the pot aside to let the flavors develop and cool down.
  13. 13. Remove the vanilla pod from the compote before serving.
  14. 14. Put milk, butter, a pinch of salt, and 1 teaspoon of sugar into a non-stick pan.
  15. 15. Stir constantly until the milk mixture comes to a boil.
  16. 16. Place the steamed dumplings into the hot milk.
  17. 17. Cover the pan with a lid.
  18. 18. Cook the steamed dumplings on low to medium heat for about 10 minutes.
  19. 19. Crumble the Amarettini cookies into small pieces.
  20. 20. Plate the finished steamed dumplings with the plum compote.
  21. 21. Sprinkle the Amarettini crumbs over the dumplings.
  22. 22. Serve the dish and enjoy!
