Instructions

  1. 1. Mix the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, one teaspoon of cinnamon, and a pinch each of ground cloves and nutmeg in a bowl.
  2. 2. Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture and stir briefly until small butter pieces remain visible.
  3. 3. Stir the egg and one teaspoon of vanilla extract into the mixture briefly.
  4. 4. Gradually add cold milk until a crumbly dough forms that holds together when pressed.
  5. 5. Briefly press the dough into a block, place it on a plate, and chill it covered in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  6. 6. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
  7. 7. Line baking trays with non-stick baking paper.
  8. 8. Divide the dough into two halves and shape each half into a circle about 2 to 3 centimeters high using your hands and a rolling pin.
  9. 9. Cut each circle into eight equal pieces and place them on the prepared trays with some space between them.
  10. 10. Bake the scones in the preheated oven at 200 degrees for about 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
  11. 11. Remove the scones from the oven and let them cool completely.
  12. 12. Whisk powdered sugar, half a teaspoon of cinnamon, half a teaspoon of vanilla extract, lemon juice, and cream cheese until you have a smooth glaze.
  13. 13. Spread the glaze over the cooled scones and serve.
