🍰 Christmas Scones with Cream Cheese Glaze

Ingredients
- all-purpose flour, Type 405 450 g
- baking powder 2 tsp
- salt 0.5 tsp
- sugar 100 g
- cinnamon 1.5 tsp
- cloves, ground pinch
- nutmeg, ground pinch
- butter 120 g
- eggs 1 pc.
- vanilla extract 1.5 tsp
- milk 200 ml
- powdered sugar 100 g
- lemon juice 2 tbsp
- cream cheese, plain 1 tbsp
Instructions
- 1. Mix the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, one teaspoon of cinnamon, and a pinch each of ground cloves and nutmeg in a bowl.
- 2. Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture and stir briefly until small butter pieces remain visible.
- 3. Stir the egg and one teaspoon of vanilla extract into the mixture briefly.
- 4. Gradually add cold milk until a crumbly dough forms that holds together when pressed.
- 5. Briefly press the dough into a block, place it on a plate, and chill it covered in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- 6. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
- 7. Line baking trays with non-stick baking paper.
- 8. Divide the dough into two halves and shape each half into a circle about 2 to 3 centimeters high using your hands and a rolling pin.
- 9. Cut each circle into eight equal pieces and place them on the prepared trays with some space between them.
- 10. Bake the scones in the preheated oven at 200 degrees for about 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
- 11. Remove the scones from the oven and let them cool completely.
- 12. Whisk powdered sugar, half a teaspoon of cinnamon, half a teaspoon of vanilla extract, lemon juice, and cream cheese until you have a smooth glaze.
- 13. Spread the glaze over the cooled scones and serve.
