🍽️ Cheeseburger with homemade ketchup

Ingredients
- onions, yellow 2 pcs.
- garlic cloves 1 pcs.
- oil 3 tbsp
- tomatoes, chopped 400 g
- balsamic vinegar, light 1 tbsp
- salt pinch
- pepper, mixed pinch
- sugar 2 tbsp
- pickles 2 pcs.
- head lettuce 0.25 pcs.
- ground beef 500 g
- hamburger buns 4 pcs.
- butter cheese slices 4 slices
- mustard 4 tsp
- roasted onions 4 tsp
Instructions
- 1. Halve the onions and peel them. Peel the garlic cloves as well. Cut the onions and garlic into very small cubes.
- 2. Heat one tablespoon of oil in a pot over medium heat. Add half of the diced onions and garlic to the pot. Sauté the vegetables for about two minutes.
- 3. Deglaze the vegetables with the chopped tomatoes and vinegar. Season the mixture with salt, pepper, and sugar.
- 4. Let the tomato mixture simmer for about ten minutes until it thickens slightly. Remove the pot from the heat. Taste the sauce again and set it aside to cool down.
- 5. Drain the pickles. Slice them into rounds. Remove four lettuce leaves. Wash the lettuce and shake it well to dry it.
- 6. Mix the remaining diced onions and garlic with the ground meat, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- 7. Shape the meat mixture into four burger patties (meat balls).
- 8. Heat two tablespoons of oil in a frying pan over high heat. Fry the patties on each side for about four minutes until they are golden brown.
- 9. Place a slice of cheese on each patty. Remove the frying pan from the heat. Cover the pan and let the burgers rest for two minutes so the cheese melts.
- 10. Cut the burger buns in half. Spread mustard on the bottom half of each bun.
- 11. Assemble the burgers in order: first a lettuce leaf, then the patty with melted cheese, followed by the pickle slices, fried onions, and homemade ketchup.
- 12. Place the top half of the bun on top. Serve the burgers immediately. The ketchup will keep in the refrigerator in a clean, sealed jar for a few days.
