  1. 1. Mix yeast, sugar, and water in a bowl.
  2. 2. Add flour, 1 tsp salt, 1 egg, and 4 tbsp olive oil to the yeast-sugar mixture.
  3. 3. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
  4. 4. Shape the dough into a ball.
  5. 5. Lightly brush the ball with a little olive oil.
  6. 6. Let the dough rise covered for about 1 hour until it has doubled in size.
  7. 7. Tip: For faster rising, place the dough in the oven on proofing setting (34 °C top/bottom heat with steam).
  8. 8. This shortens the rising time by approx. 30 minutes and prevents the dough from drying out.
  9. 9. Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a large pan.
  10. 10. Fry the minced meat until crumbly.
  11. 11. Peel the onion and the garlic clove.
  12. 12. Dice the onion and garlic finely.
  13. 13. Fry the diced pieces with the meat for 3-4 minutes.
  14. 14. Season the mixture with 1 tsp salt, pepper, and paprika.
  15. 15. Turn off the stove.
  16. 16. Finely chop the pickles.
  17. 17. Stir the pickles, ketchup, and mustard into the meat mixture.
  18. 18. Let the filling cool down completely.
  19. 19. Dust a work surface with flour.
  20. 20. Roll out the yeast dough on a floured work surface to about 35 cm in diameter.
  21. 21. Place the cooled filling in the center of the dough.
  22. 22. Grate the cheese over the filling.
  23. 23. Fold the dough from the outside inwards over the filling.
  24. 24. Seal the dough well so that nothing can escape.
  25. 25. Grease a baking pan with a little olive oil.
  26. 26. Place the burger cake in the pan with the smooth side facing up.
  27. 27. Whisk one egg.
  28. 28. Brush the surface of the cake with the whisked egg.
  29. 29. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the top.
  30. 30. Place the cake in the cold oven.
  31. 31. Set the oven to 170 °C top/bottom heat.
  32. 32. Bake the burger cake for about 35 minutes.
  33. 33. Use the oven's heating-up time for the dough to rise.
