  4. 4. Slice the garlic thinly.
  5. 5. Wash the basil.
  6. 6. Dry the basil thoroughly.
  7. 7. Pluck the basil leaves from the stems.
  8. 8. Chop the basil leaves finely.
  9. 9. Drain the mozzarella balls well.
  10. 10. Rinse a clean jar (approx. 850 ml) with hot water.
  11. 11. Layer the tomatoes, garlic slices, and mozzarella alternately into the jar.
  12. 12. Mix the oil with salt and a bit of pepper in a bowl.
  13. 13. Pour the seasoned oil over the layers until everything is covered.
  14. 14. Seal the jar tightly.
  15. 15. Store the jar in the refrigerator.
  16. 16. Let the Caprese marinate in the fridge for at least one day.
  17. 17. Drain the Caprese well before serving.
  18. 18. Serve the Caprese with ciabatta or baguette.
