  2. 2. Cut the plums in half and remove the pits.
  3. 3. Cut an orange in half and squeeze out the juice.
  4. 4. Place the plums, orange juice, one tablespoon of cinnamon, and the sugar into a pot.
  5. 5. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it boils.
  6. 6. Let the compote simmer until soft for about four to five minutes.
  7. 7. Mix some water with the starch in a small bowl.
  8. 8. Stir the starch-water mixture into the plum compote to thicken it slightly.
  9. 9. Allow the compote to cool down.
  10. 10. Whisk buttermilk, eggs, salt, and sugar in a bowl until frothy.
  11. 11. Mix flour and baking powder in a separate bowl.
  12. 12. Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and stir everything into a smooth batter.
  13. 13. Let the batter rest for about ten minutes.
  14. 14. Melt some butter in a frying pan over medium heat.
  15. 15. Pour the batter into the pan in portions of about five centimeters in diameter using a ladle.
