  4. 4. Mix flour, baking powder, brown sugar, and vanilla sugar in a bowl.
  5. 5. Peel the apple.
  6. 6. Cut the apple into quarters.
  7. 7. Remove the core.
  8. 8. Dice the flesh into small cubes.
  9. 9. Fold the apple cubes into the flour mixture.
  10. 10. Whisk the egg with the lemon zest and juice.
  11. 11. Stir in the buttermilk and the softened butter.
  12. 12. Pull the liquid mixture under the flour mixture with a mixing spoon.
  13. 13. Mix the ingredients only as long as they are just combined.
  14. 14. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees top and bottom heat.
  15. 15. Stack two muffin liners together.
