  1. 1. Cut the onion in half and peel it. Dice the onion into small cubes.
  2. 2. Peel the garlic clove and chop it finely.
  3. 3. Drain the pickles into a sieve. Catch the pickle juice in a container.
  4. 4. Finely chop the drained pickles.
  5. 5. Separate the eggs. Use the egg white for another purpose and keep only the yolk.
  6. 6. Place the egg yolk, mustard, vinegar, and sugar in a tall container.
  7. 7. Whisk the mixture briefly with a hand blender.
  8. 8. Slowly pour in the oil in a thin stream while continuing to stir until a mayonnaise forms.
  9. 9. Stir in the ketchup and one tablespoon of the collected pickle juice into the mayonnaise.
  10. 10. Season the sauce to taste with your favorite spices.
  11. 11. Fold in the finely chopped pickles into the sauce.
  12. 12. Serve the finished sauce with your burgers.
