  5. 5. Wash the lemon and grate about one teaspoon of the zest.
  6. 6. Halve the lemon and squeeze out the juice.
  7. 7. Cut the stale bread into cubes.
  8. 8. Melt one tablespoon of butter in a pan over high heat.
  9. 9. Sauté the onion cubes and garlic for about two minutes.
  10. 10. Deglaze the pan with milk.
  11. 11. Season the mixture generously with salt and pepper.
  12. 12. Place the bread cubes into a bowl.
  13. 13. Pour the lukewarm milk over the bread cubes.
  14. 14. Let the bread cubes soak for about ten minutes.
  15. 15. Tear the salad into bite-sized pieces.
