  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 220 °C (top/bottom heat). Press the toast bread slices slightly flat with a heavy pot. Cut out round shapes or cut the slices into pieces about 3 cm in size. Arrange the bread evenly on a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil.
  2. 2. Wash the tomatoes thoroughly and halve them. Drain the mozzarella and cut into cubes about 1 cm in size. First place the tomatoes and then the mozzarella cubes on the bread slices (best secured with a toothpick).
  3. 3. Season with salt, pepper, sugar and oregano and bake in the oven for about 5 minutes until the mozzarella starts to melt. Meanwhile, wash the basil, dry it, pluck the leaves from the stems and chop finely.
  4. 4. Take the finished Caprese bread chips out of the oven, remove the toothpicks if necessary and garnish with the chopped basil. Enjoy your meal!
