🍽️ Crispy Bratwursts with Creamy Onion Sauce and Fluffy Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients
- potatoes, starchy 800 g
- salt pinch
- cooking onions 2 pcs.
- oil 2 tbsp
- pan-fried sausages 4 pcs.
- wheat flour, Type 405 4 tbsp
- sugar pinch
- beef broth 400 ml
- butter 3 tbsp
- milk 150 ml
- nutmeg, ground pinch
Instructions
- 1. Peel the potatoes and wash them thoroughly.
- 2. Cut the potatoes into evenly sized pieces.
- 3. Place the potato pieces in a pot with salted water.
- 4. Cook the potatoes for about 30 minutes.
- 5. Cut the onions in half in the meantime.
- 6. Remove the outer skin of the onions.
- 7. Slice the onions into thin rings.
- 8. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- 9. Fry the bratwursts until golden brown on all sides.
- 10. Remove the cooked bratwursts from the pan and set them aside.
- 11. Add one tablespoon of additional oil to the pan.
- 12. Fry the onion rings in the pan juices for about 2 minutes.
- 13. Dust the onions with flour and sugar.
- 14. Deglaze the pan with broth.
- 15. Let the onion sauce simmer and reduce for a few minutes.
- 16. Return the bratwursts to the sauce.
- 17. Let the sausages simmer in the sauce for 1 minute.
- 18. Drain the cooked potatoes in a colander.
- 19. Return the potatoes to the hot pot.
- 20. Add butter and milk to the potatoes.
- 21. Mash the potatoes with a potato masher until creamy.
- 22. Season the mash with salt and grated nutmeg.
- 23. Plate the mashed potatoes on a dish.
- 24. Serve the bratwursts and onion sauce alongside.
