🍽️ Bratwurst Vegetable Skillet with Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients
- potatoes, floury 1 kg
- salt pinch
- onions, red 1 pc.
- carrots 2 pc.
- parsnips 2 pc.
- bell pepper, red 1 pc.
- grill sausages 4 pc.
- parsley, fresh 20 g
- oil 2 tbsp
- sugar 1 tsp
- pepper, black ground pinch
- butter 2 tbsp
- milk 100 ml
- nutmeg, ground pinch
- fried onions 4 tbsp
Instructions
- 1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into small cubes.
- 2. Place the potato cubes in a pot with salted water.
- 3. Bring the water to a boil.
- 4. Cook the potatoes over medium heat for about 25 minutes.
- 5. Halve the onions and peel them.
- 6. Cut the onions into thin strips.
- 7. Peel the carrots and parsnips.
- 8. Trim the ends of the carrots and parsnips.
- 9. Slice the carrots and parsnips diagonally.
- 10. Wash the bell peppers thoroughly.
- 11. Halve the bell peppers.
- 12. Remove the core and seeds from the bell peppers.
- 13. Cut the bell peppers into small diamond shapes.
- 14. Slice the bratwursts into rounds.
- 15. Wash the parsley.
- 16. Dry the parsley.
- 17. Pluck the parsley leaves from the stems.
- 18. Finely chop the parsley leaves.
- 19. Heat the oil in a skillet over high heat.
- 20. Fry the bratwurst slices for about 4 minutes until golden brown.
- 21. Remove the bratwurst from the skillet and place it on a plate.
- 22. Add the prepared vegetables to the hot skillet.
- 23. Fry the vegetables for about 6 minutes.
- 24. Sprinkle sugar over the vegetables.
- 25. Let the sugar caramelize for about 1 minute.
- 26. Return the bratwurst to the skillet.
- 27. Season the dish with salt and pepper.
- 28. Stir the chopped parsley into the vegetables.
- 29. Keep the vegetables warm.
- 30. Drain the potatoes by using the lid as a strainer.
- 31. Add butter and milk to the pot with the potatoes.
- 32. Mash the potatoes into a puree using a potato masher.
- 33. Season the mashed potatoes with salt and nutmeg.
- 34. Plate the bratwurst and vegetable skillet.
- 35. Serve the skillet alongside the mashed potatoes.
- 36. Sprinkle roasted onions over the dish.
