🍰 Blood Orange Cookies

Ingredients
- butter 170 g
- Sugar 200 g
- Salt Pinch
- Vanilla extract 1 tsp
- Eggs 1 pc
- Blood oranges 1 pc
- Wheat flour, Type 405 300 g
- Cornstarch 1 tsp
- Baking powder 1 tsp
- Food coloring, red 1 g
- Food coloring, yellow 1 g
- Powdered sugar 100 g
Instructions
- 1. Beat the soft butter, sugar, a pinch of salt, and vanilla extract until creamy for three to four minutes.
- 2. Stir in the egg until the mixture is homogeneous.
- 3. Wash the blood orange and grate about one teaspoon of zest.
- 4. Halve the orange and squeeze out 50 milliliters of juice.
- 5. Add the zest and juice to the butter-egg mixture.
- 6. Mix the flour with the cornstarch and baking powder.
- 7. Gently fold the flour mixture into the wet mixture.
- 8. Divide the dough into two equal halves.
- 9. Color one half red and the other half yellow.
- 10. Place both doughs in the refrigerator, covered, for 30 to 60 minutes.
- 11. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius using hot air circulation.
- 12. Line two baking sheets with non-stick baking paper.
- 13. Take alternating portions of red and yellow dough.
- 14. Ensure the colors marbleize within the portioner.
- 15. Fill the portioner exactly so that the cookies are uniform in size.
- 16. Shape the dough into a smooth ball using your hands.
- 17. Roll the dough balls in powdered sugar.
- 18. Place the balls on the sheets with plenty of space between them.
- 19. Press the balls down only very slightly.
- 20. Bake the sheets simultaneously for about 15 to 20 minutes.
- 21. Ensure the cookies do not become too dark.
- 22. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet.
