  2. 2. Halve the pears and remove the core.
  3. 3. Cut the flesh into small cubes.
  4. 4. Halve the lemon.
  5. 5. Squeeze the juice from the lemon.
  6. 6. Put the pear cubes, lemon juice, vanilla sugar, and pectin sugar into a pot.
  7. 7. Heat the mixture on medium heat until it boils.
  8. 8. Let the jam simmer for about 4 minutes.
  9. 9. Take one teaspoon of the warm jam.
  10. 10. Place the sample on a cold plate.
  11. 11. Wait about 1 minute and check if the jam sets.
  12. 12. If it is still liquid, cook it for 1 to 2 minutes longer.
  13. 13. Repeat the setting test until the jam is firm.
  14. 14. Fill the hot jam into four clean screw-top jars.
  15. 15. Seal the jars tightly.
  16. 16. Turn the jars upside down so they stand on their lids.
  17. 17. Let the jars cool down completely.
