  8. 8. Squeeze the juice from the lemon.
  9. 9. Split the vanilla pod in half lengthwise.
  10. 10. Scrape out the seeds (pulp) from the vanilla pod.
  11. 11. Place the diced pears into a pot.
  12. 12. Pour 50 milliliters of water over the pears.
  13. 13. Add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice.
  14. 14. Add the vanilla seeds to the pot.
  15. 15. Add 100 grams of sugar to the pot.
  16. 16. Stir all ingredients in the pot thoroughly.
  17. 17. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  18. 18. Reduce the heat to medium.
  19. 19. Place the lid on the pot.
  20. 20. Let the pears cook for about 8 minutes.
  21. 21. Check the pears for tenderness.
  22. 22. The pears should be soft but still have a slight bite.
  23. 23. Chop the macadamia nuts very finely.

  25. 25. Add the butter to the bowl.

  28. 28. Add the finely chopped macadamia nuts to the bowl.

  31. 31. Spread the pears along with the cooking liquid in the dish.
  32. 32. Sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the top.
  33. 33. Place the baking dish in the oven.
  34. 34. Bake the crumble for about 20 to 25 minutes.
