  1. 1. Ideally, thaw the berries overnight in a sieve in the refrigerator so they drain well.
  2. 2. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees conventional heat.
  3. 3. Cream the soft butter with sugar, salt, and vanilla sugar in a bowl using a hand mixer with a whisk.
  4. 4. Crack four eggs and add them one by one to the butter-sugar mixture.
  5. 5. Add flour, baking powder, and milk to the bowl and stir until a smooth batter forms.
  6. 6. Gently fold the berries into the batter.
  7. 7. Distribute the batter evenly into greased muffin cups.
  8. 8. Bake the cupcakes in the oven for about 20 minutes until lightly golden.
  9. 9. Separate the remaining egg and use the yolk for something else.
  10. 10. Beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt in a bowl using a hand mixer until stiff.
  11. 11. Add the powdered sugar tablespoon by tablespoon while stirring.
  12. 12. Continue beating until the mixture is thick and glossy.
  13. 13. Fill the meringue mixture into a piping bag with a star nozzle.
  14. 14. Pipe small swirls onto the pre-baked cupcakes.
  15. 15. Bake the cupcakes at the same oven temperature for another 15 minutes until the meringue is crisp and light.
