  6. 6. Wash the potatoes thoroughly under running water.
  7. 7. Place the whole potatoes into the deep steam cooking insert.
  8. 8. Pour 1 liter of water into the mixing pot.
  9. 9. Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the water.
  10. 10. Add bay leaves to the water.
  11. 11. Place the steam cooking insert with the potatoes onto the pot.
  12. 12. Close the pot securely.
  13. 13. Steam the potatoes for 40 minutes on the steam cooking setting.
  14. 14. Peel the potatoes while they are still warm to the touch.
  15. 15. Slice the peeled potatoes.
  16. 16. Put the potato slices into a large bowl.
  17. 17. Empty the cooking water from the mixing pot.
  18. 18. Rinse the mixing pot briefly.
  19. 19. Halve the onion and peel it.
  20. 20. Put the onion pieces into the clean mixing pot.
  21. 21. Chop the onion for 5 seconds on speed 5.
  22. 22. Scrape down the onion pieces to the bottom with a spatula.
  23. 23. Add the bacon and 1 tablespoon of oil to the pot.
  24. 24. Fry the bacon for 5 minutes on the sauté setting.
