  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (convection mode).
  2. 2. Peel four ripe bananas.
  3. 3. Place the peeled bananas in a bowl.
  4. 4. Mash the bananas into a puree using a fork.
  5. 5. Peel the remaining banana.
  6. 6. Cut the last banana lengthwise into two halves.
  7. 7. Set the banana halves aside.
  8. 8. Place soft butter, eggs, and sugar in a separate bowl.
  9. 9. Whisk the butter, eggs, and sugar together using a hand mixer with a whisk attachment.
  10. 10. Fold the prepared banana puree into the butter-sugar mixture.
  11. 11. Sift flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and a pinch of salt into the bowl.
  12. 12. Quickly mix the ingredients to form a smooth dough.
  13. 13. Stir the chocolate chips into the dough at the end.
  14. 14. Grease a loaf pan with oil.
  15. 15. Pour the dough smoothly into the prepared pan.
  16. 16. Place the halved banana on top of the dough.
  17. 17. Press the banana slightly into the dough.
  18. 18. Sprinkle some raw cane sugar over the dough and the banana.
  19. 19. Bake the banana bread for approx. 50 minutes in the oven.
  20. 20. Remove the chocolate banana bread from the oven.
  21. 21. Let the bread cool down briefly.
  22. 22. Carefully release the bread from the pan.
  23. 23. Serve the bread warm or cooled down.
