  1. 1. Separate the egg. Carefully lift the yolk away from the white.
  2. 2. Whip the egg white in a bowl using a hand mixer and whisk until stiff.
  3. 3. Whip the cream in a separate bowl until stiff as well.
  4. 4. Bring water to a boil in a small pot.
  5. 5. Chop the chocolate into small pieces.
  6. 6. Melt the chocolate in a bowl placed over the hot water (bain-marie).
  7. 7. Remove the bowl from the heat and let the chocolate cool down.
  8. 8. Place the egg yolk in a separate bowl.
  9. 9. Sift powdered sugar over the egg yolk.
  10. 10. Whip the mixture for about 2 to 3 minutes until thick, creamy, and pale.
  11. 11. Slowly add the cooled chocolate to the egg yolk. Stir constantly.
  12. 12. Mix the mass thoroughly.
  13. 13. Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture using a whisk.
  14. 14. Gently fold the stiff egg whites into the mixture using a whisk.
  15. 15. Chill the mousse for about 30 minutes.
  16. 16. Crumble the butter cookies into small pieces.
  17. 17. Distribute the cookie crumbs among four glasses.
  18. 18. Drizzle the cookies with rum.
  19. 19. Peel one banana.
  20. 20. Slice the banana into thin rounds.
  21. 21. Distribute the banana slices over the cookies in the glasses.
  22. 22. Pour the chocolate mousse over the banana slices.
  23. 23. Cover the glasses.
  24. 24. Place the glasses in a cool spot for about 2 hours.
  25. 25. Peel the remaining banana just before serving.
  26. 26. Slice the remaining banana into rounds.
  27. 27. Decorate the trifles with the banana slices.
  28. 28. Sprinkle chocolate sprinkles on top.
