  1. 1. Melt butter and sugar in a pan over medium heat.
  2. 2. Caramelize the mixture for about 3 to 4 minutes until it turns golden brown.
  3. 3. Add 100 ml of cream and stir briefly until the caramel dissolves.
  4. 4. Let the caramel sauce cool down.
  5. 5. Mix instant coffee powder with cold water in a bowl.
  6. 6. Halve the grapefruit and squeeze out the juice.
  7. 7. Peel the bananas and slice them thinly.
  8. 8. Mix the banana slices with the grapefruit juice.
  9. 9. Slice the brioche thinly and place the slices in a bowl.
  10. 10. Drizzle the brioche slices with 2 tablespoons of the coffee mixture and rum.
  11. 11. Distribute the banana slices evenly over the brioche.
  12. 12. Mix 2 teaspoons of caramel sauce thoroughly with the remaining coffee in a bowl.
  13. 13. Set this caramel-coffee mixture aside.
  14. 14. Stir the remaining caramel sauce smoothly with mascarpone in a separate bowl.
  15. 15. Whip 100 ml of cream stiffly in a tall container using a hand mixer.
  16. 16. Fold 2 tablespoons of coffee into the whipped cream.
  17. 17. Fold the mascarpone-caramel mixture into the sweetened cream.
  18. 18. Distribute this cream evenly over the bananas.
  19. 19. Garnish the dessert with the reserved caramel sauce.
  20. 20. Let the trifle chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
