  1. 1. Halve the onion and peel it. Cut the onion into small dice.
  2. 2. Wash the apples. Cut the apples into quarters and remove the core.
  3. 3. Cut the apple quarters into wedges about 1 cm thick.
  4. 4. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pot over medium heat.
  5. 5. Add the diced onion and apple wedges to the pot. Sauté the vegetables and fruit for about 3 minutes.
  6. 6. Add the red cabbage to the pot. Season with cinnamon and salt.
  7. 7. Add some water. Cover the pot and cook the red cabbage over medium heat for about 10 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  8. 8. Turn off the stove and keep the red cabbage warm.
  9. 9. Fill another pot with about 5 liters of water and add salt. Cover the pot and bring the water to a boil.
  10. 10. Finely chop the macadamia nuts.
  11. 11. Place the potato dumplings into the boiling salted water. Cook the dumplings for about 10 minutes without a lid. Make sure the water is not boiling vigorously.
  12. 12. Drain the dumplings in a sieve. Let them drip off and place them on a plate.
  13. 13. Wipe out the pot used for the red cabbage. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in it over medium heat.
  14. 14. Add the breadcrumbs and chopped macadamia nuts to the pot. Season with salt and pepper.
  15. 15. Toast the nut-breadcrumb mixture over medium heat for about 2 minutes until golden brown, shaking the pan occasionally. Turn off the stove.
  16. 16. Add the potato dumplings to the nut-breadcrumb mixture. Toss the dumplings until they are evenly coated.
  17. 17. Finally, season the red cabbage with salt and pepper to taste.
  18. 18. Serve the red cabbage on plates. Add the nut-coated dumplings. Serve the dish.
