  1. 1. Peel the onion and the garlic.
  2. 2. Finely chop the onion and the garlic.
  3. 3. Peel the apples.
  4. 4. Cut the apples into quarters.
  5. 5. Remove the core from the apple quarters.
  6. 6. Cut the apples into small pieces.
  7. 7. Heat the olive oil in a pot.
  8. 8. Add the onion, garlic, and apple pieces to the pot.
  9. 9. Sauté the ingredients over medium heat for about 5 to 10 minutes.
  10. 10. Season the mixture with salt.
  11. 11. Wash the chili peppers.
  12. 12. Halve the chili peppers lengthwise.
  13. 13. Decide whether you want to keep the seeds for more heat.
  14. 14. Add the chili peppers (with or without seeds) to the pot.
  15. 15. Add the tomato paste.
  16. 16. Pour the puréed tomatoes into the pot.
  17. 17. Add the vinegar to the mixture.
  18. 18. Simmer the ketchup in the covered pot for about 20 minutes.
  19. 19. Remove the pot from the heat.
  20. 20. Let the mixture cool down for about 20 minutes.
  21. 21. Blend the cooled mixture until smooth using a hand blender.
  22. 22. Pour the ketchup into bottles or jars.
  23. 23. Store the ketchup in a cool place.
