Ingredients
- 500 g Ground beef
- 50 g Breadcrumbs
- 1 Onion
- 1 Garlic clove
- 1 Egg
- 1 TL Thyme
- 1 TL Marjoram
- 1 TL Salt
- 1 TL Pepper
- 1 EL Olive oil
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C. This takes about 3 minutes.
- 2. Peel the onion and dice it finely.
- 3. Peel the garlic clove and press it through a press.
- 4. Pat the 500 g ground beef dry with paper towels. Wet meatballs will be mushy.
- 5. Add the diced onion, garlic, 50 g breadcrumbs, and the egg to a large bowl.
- 6. Add 1 tsp thyme, 1 tsp marjoram, 1 tsp salt, and 1 tsp pepper.
- 7. Knead the ingredients together with your hands for about 2 minutes. The mixture should still be sticky.
- 8. Form about 16 equal-sized balls (about walnut size). Balls that are too large will be raw inside.
- 9. Place the balls in the air fryer basket. Leave space between the balls for air circulation.
- 10. Pour 1 tbsp olive oil into a small bowl and brush the balls with it. This will give them a nice browning.
- 11. Cook the balls in the air fryer at 180 °C for about 12 minutes, until golden brown. Turn them over once after 6 minutes.
- 12. Check the cooking time: A ball should be firm inside and golden brown outside. Cook for another 2 minutes if needed.
- 13. Let the balls rest in the basket for 3 minutes. This allows the juices to distribute evenly.
- 14. Arrange the finished balls on a plate. They are perfect when they are firm to the bite.
