  1. 1. Wash the strawberries and remove the green tops. Wash the basil leaves and pat them dry.
  2. 2. Dissolve the sugar in the water on the stove and heat briefly until a light syrup is formed. Let the syrup cool down.
  3. 3. Place the strawberries, the cooled syrup, the lemon juice, and the basil in a blender.
  4. 4. Blend the ingredients into a very fine puree. Press the mixture through a fine sieve to remove the basil fibers.
  5. 5. Stir the heavy cream (or milk) into the strawberry puree.
  6. 6. Pour the mixture into a freeze-proof container and place it in the freezer for 4 hours or overnight.
