🍽️ Onions with Honey and Saffron

Ingredients
- 1 kg small round onions
- 4 small stalks celery
- 40 g fresh ginger
- 9 tbsp olive oil
- 1 packet saffron powder (or threads)
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tbsp flower honey
- 2 tsp salt
- 4 bay leaves
Instructions
- 1. Peel the onions. Rinse the celery, clean it, remove the strings, and cut into thin rings. Peel the fresh ginger and grate finely.
- 2. Thoroughly mix the onions, celery, ginger, olive oil, saffron, pepper, cinnamon, honey, salt, and bay leaves in a casserole dish. Add 250 ml water.
- 3. Cook everything in a preheated oven at 175°C (Gas 2, convection 1 hour at 150°C) in a covered pot on the lowest rack for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Stir gently once or twice in between. Let the onions cool in the covered pot.
