  1. 1. Mix flour, salt, and yeast in a large bowl.
  2. 2. Dissolve the yeast in 150 milliliters of lukewarm water and stir well.
  3. 3. Add the yeast-water mixture and the oil to the flour mixture.
  4. 4. Knead the dough with the beaters of a hand mixer for about 5 minutes.
  5. 5. Make sure the dough forms bubbles.
  6. 6. If the dough seems too dry, add a little more water.
  7. 7. Cover the bowl and place it in a warm spot.
  8. 8. Let the dough rise for about 1 hour until it has doubled in size.
  9. 9. Cut the bacon into thin slices.
  10. 10. Cut the bacon slices into small strips.
  11. 11. Heat oil in a pan.
  12. 12. Render and fry the bacon strips over low heat.
  13. 13. Remove the cooked bacon from the pan and set it aside.
  14. 14. Peel the onions.
  15. 15. Slice the onions into thin rings.
  16. 16. Sauté the onion rings in batches in the remaining bacon fat until soft.
  17. 17. Let the fried onions cool down slightly.
  18. 18. Mix sour cream, egg, caraway seeds, salt, pepper, and paprika powder in a bowl.
  19. 19. Gently fold the cooled bacon and onions into the cream mixture.
  20. 20. Grease a baking tray with some fat.
  21. 21. Spread the dough evenly onto the prepared baking tray.
  22. 22. Distribute the onion-bacon filling evenly over the dough.
  23. 23. Place the tray into a cold oven.
  24. 24. Set the oven to 180 degrees.
  25. 25. Bake the cake for about 40 minutes.
