🍽️ French-style Onion Tart

Ingredients
- 21 g yeast (0.5 cube)
- 150 ml lukewarm milk
- 1 pinch sugar
- 50 g melted butter
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 400 g flour
- 1 kg onions
- 400 g sour cream
- 3 eggs
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 1 tsp caraway seeds
- pepper (from the mill)
- oil (for the baking sheet)
- flour (for working)
Instructions
- 1. Mix the lukewarm milk with the yeast and sugar. Stir the mixture until smooth and everything has dissolved.
- 2. Add the flour and salt to the milk-yeast mixture.
- 3. Knead the dough using the dough hooks of an electric mixer. Work it through until it is smooth.
- 4. Adjust the amount of milk if necessary. The dough should no longer stick to the bowl.
- 5. Cover the bowl. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 45 minutes.
- 6. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius fan-forced.
- 7. Brush the baking tray with oil.
- 8. Peel the onions.
- 9. Slice the onions into thin rings.
- 10. Whisk the sour cream with the eggs.
- 11. Season the cream mixture with salt, caraway seeds, and pepper.
- 12. Take the dough out of the resting phase. Knead it well again on a floured work surface.
- 13. Roll out the dough.
- 14. Place the dough on the prepared baking tray.
- 15. Form a crust edge from the dough.
- 16. Distribute the onion slices evenly over the dough.
- 17. Pour the sour cream mixture over the onions.
- 18. Place the tray on the middle rack in the preheated oven.
- 19. Bake the tart for 35 to 40 minutes until golden brown.
