🍰 Plum Dumplings with Poppy Seed Sauce

Ingredients
- 400 g potatoes (floury)
- 100 g flour
- 2 tbsp semolina
- 1 tbsp soft butter
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tbsp sugar
- salt
- 8 plums (very ripe)
- 8 pieces cube sugar
- 150 g butter
- 100 g poppy seeds (ground)
- flour (for the work surface)
- plums (for garnishing)
Instructions
- 1. Wash the potatoes thoroughly.
- 2. Boil the unpeeled potatoes until tender, which takes about 25 minutes.
- 3. Drain the water and let the potatoes steam dry for a moment.
- 4. Peel the warm potatoes.
- 5. Press the hot potatoes through a potato ricer onto a cutting board.
- 6. Let the potato mixture cool down completely.
- 7. Add flour, semolina, butter, sugar, egg yolk, and a pinch of salt to the cooled potato mixture.
- 8. Knead the ingredients quickly into a smooth dough.
- 9. Let the dough rest for about 20 minutes.
- 10. Wash the plums.
- 11. Cut the plums open to remove the pit.
- 12. Insert a small piece of cube sugar into the hollowed-out plum.
- 13. Shape the dough on a floured surface into a roll about 5 cm thick.
- 14. Cut the roll into 12 equal pieces.
- 15. Flatten the dough pieces slightly.
- 16. Place a filled plum in the center of each dough piece.
- 17. Seal the dough tightly around the plum without any cracks.
- 18. Shape the dumplings into round balls.
- 19. Place the dumplings into simmering water.
- 20. Cook the dumplings for about 20 minutes.
- 21. Gently nudge the dumplings occasionally while cooking so they turn.
- 22. Melt the butter in a large pan.
- 23. Sauté the poppy seeds in the butter.
- 24. Remove the pan from the heat and set it aside.
- 25. Lift the cooked dumplings out of the water.
- 26. Let the dumplings drain.
- 27. Drizzle the dumplings with the poppy seed butter.
- 28. Plate the dumplings.
- 29. Garnish with additional plums and serve the dish immediately.
