  1. 1. Wash the plums thoroughly and pat them dry with a kitchen towel.
  2. 2. Halve the plums and remove the pits.
  3. 3. Finely dice the plum flesh into small cubes.
  4. 4. Peel the apples and cut them into quarters.
  5. 5. Remove the core from the apple quarters.
  6. 6. Finely chop the apple pieces as well.
  7. 7. Place the finely chopped plums and apples into a large pot.
  8. 8. Peel the onions and chop them finely.
  9. 9. Add the chopped onions, raisins, vinegar, sugar, and spices to the fruit in the pot.
  10. 10. Heat the mixture until it comes to a boil.
  11. 11. Reduce the heat and let the chutney simmer gently for about 1 hour.
  12. 12. Fill the hot chutney immediately into prepared, clean jars.
  13. 13. Seal the jars immediately with the lids.
  14. 14. Place the sealed jars upside down on their lids for about 15 minutes.
  15. 15. Then turn the jars right side up and let them cool down completely.
