🍽️ Classic Zuppa Inglese

Ingredients
- 3 eggs
- 80 g sugar
- 2 packets vanilla sugar
- 4 tbsp flour
- 500 ml milk
- 150 g candied fruit finely diced (e.g. quince, pineapple and apricots)
- 150 g ladyfingers
- Sambuca (50 ml each mixed)
- Marsala (50 ml each mixed)
- 200 g whipping cream
Instructions
- 1. Separate the eggs. Set the egg yolks aside.
- 2. Whisk the egg yolks with the sugar, vanilla sugar, flour, and milk in a pot.
- 3. Heat the mixture slowly while stirring constantly.
- 4. Remove the pot from the heat as soon as the cream thickens. Do not let it boil.
- 5. Pour the cream into a bowl and let it cool down.
- 6. Whip the egg whites until stiff.
- 7. Gently fold the egg whites into the cooled cream.
- 8. Mix two-thirds of the candied fruits into the cream.
- 9. Line a square dish with a layer of ladyfingers.
- 10. Drizzle some liqueur over the biscuits.
- 11. Spread a layer of the fruit cream on top.
- 12. Repeat the layers with biscuits, liqueur, and cream until the ingredients are used up.
- 13. Place the dish in the refrigerator for at least two hours.
- 14. Carefully turn the Zuppa Inglese out of the dish.
- 15. Whip the cream with the remaining vanilla sugar until stiff.
- 16. Spread the whipped cream over the cake.
- 17. Sprinkle the dessert with the remaining candied fruits.
- 18. Serve the Zuppa Inglese.
