  1. 1. Separate the eggs. Set the egg yolks aside.
  2. 2. Whisk the egg yolks with the sugar, vanilla sugar, flour, and milk in a pot.
  3. 3. Heat the mixture slowly while stirring constantly.
  4. 4. Remove the pot from the heat as soon as the cream thickens. Do not let it boil.
  5. 5. Pour the cream into a bowl and let it cool down.
  6. 6. Whip the egg whites until stiff.
  7. 7. Gently fold the egg whites into the cooled cream.
  8. 8. Mix two-thirds of the candied fruits into the cream.
  9. 9. Line a square dish with a layer of ladyfingers.
  10. 10. Drizzle some liqueur over the biscuits.
  11. 11. Spread a layer of the fruit cream on top.
  12. 12. Repeat the layers with biscuits, liqueur, and cream until the ingredients are used up.
  13. 13. Place the dish in the refrigerator for at least two hours.
  14. 14. Carefully turn the Zuppa Inglese out of the dish.
  15. 15. Whip the cream with the remaining vanilla sugar until stiff.
  16. 16. Spread the whipped cream over the cake.
  17. 17. Sprinkle the dessert with the remaining candied fruits.
  18. 18. Serve the Zuppa Inglese.
