  2. 2. Stir the powdered sugar into the stiffly beaten egg whites.
  3. 3. Set aside one cup of the egg white mixture for the icing.
  4. 4. Add the almonds, cinnamon, and kirsch to the remaining egg white mixture.
  5. 5. Quickly knead the ingredients together to form a dough.
  6. 6. Cover the dough and place it in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.
  7. 7. Spread sugar onto a work surface.
  8. 8. Roll out the dough on the sugared surface to a thickness of about 4 mm.
  9. 9. Cut out heart shapes from the dough.
  10. 10. Coat the hearts evenly with the reserved icing.
  11. 11. Place the hearts on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
  12. 12. Let the hearts dry overnight at room temperature.
  13. 13. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees.
  14. 14. Bake the stars for about 8 minutes in the preheated oven.
  15. 15. Ensure that the stars remain soft inside and the surface stays white.
