🍽️ Crispy Cinnamon Stars

Ingredients
- 500 g almond kernels (ground)
- 5 egg whites
- 450 g powdered sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 20 ml kirsch
- sugar (for the work surface)
Instructions
- 1. Beat the egg whites with a mixer until stiff.
- 2. Stir the powdered sugar into the stiffly beaten egg whites.
- 3. Set aside one cup of the egg white mixture for the icing.
- 4. Add the almonds, cinnamon, and kirsch to the remaining egg white mixture.
- 5. Quickly knead the ingredients together to form a dough.
- 6. Cover the dough and place it in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.
- 7. Spread sugar onto a work surface.
- 8. Roll out the dough on the sugared surface to a thickness of about 4 mm.
- 9. Cut out heart shapes from the dough.
- 10. Coat the hearts evenly with the reserved icing.
- 11. Place the hearts on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
- 12. Let the hearts dry overnight at room temperature.
- 13. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees.
- 14. Bake the stars for about 8 minutes in the preheated oven.
- 15. Ensure that the stars remain soft inside and the surface stays white.
