🍽️ Aromatic Chicken Drumsticks with Oranges

Ingredients
- 4 chicken drumsticks
- 2 garlic cloves
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp freshly grated ginger
- 1 tbsp paprika powder
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 0.5 tsp pepper (from the mill)
- 600 g waxy potatoes
- 8 shallots
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 red chili peppers
- 1 unpeeled lemon
- 1 unpeeled orange
- oil (for the casserole)
- sea salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- lemon basil (for garnish)
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the chicken drumsticks under running water.
- 2. Pat the drumsticks completely dry with a kitchen towel.
- 3. Place the chicken drumsticks in a shallow baking dish.
- 4. Peel the garlic cloves and chop them finely.
- 5. Whisk the oil, finely chopped garlic, ginger, paprika powder, turmeric, cayenne pepper, honey, lemon juice, and pepper together in a small bowl.
- 6. Coat the chicken drumsticks evenly with the marinade.
- 7. Cover the dish and let the drumsticks marinate overnight in the refrigerator.
- 8. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius fan setting.
- 9. Wash the potatoes thoroughly.
- 10. Peel the potatoes and cut them into wedges.
- 11. Peel the shallots and the garlic.
- 12. Halve the shallots.
- 13. Wash the chili peppers.
- 14. Remove the stems and the inside of the chili peppers.
- 15. Finely chop the chili peppers.
- 16. Slice the lemon into rounds.
- 17. Slice the orange into rounds.
- 18. Place the lemon and orange slices in an oiled casserole dish or baking pan.
- 19. Distribute the potato wedges, garlic, and shallots over the fruit.
- 20. Season the vegetables with salt.
- 21. Drizzle the vegetables with oil.
- 22. Place the chicken drumsticks on top of the vegetables with the skin side facing down.
- 23. Season the chicken drumsticks with salt.
- 24. Roast the drumsticks in the preheated oven for about 50 minutes.
- 25. Defat the sauce as needed by removing excess fat.
- 26. Turn the potatoes and the chicken drumsticks once during the cooking time.
- 27. Garnish the finished dish with lemon basil.
- 28. Serve the chicken drumsticks hot.
