🍽️ Homemade Wheat Bread

Ingredients
- 700 g Wheat flour
- 400 ml Water
- 1 level tbsp Salt
- 1 cube fresh yeast (42 g)
- 2 tsp Sugar
- Milk (for brushing)
Instructions
- 1. Mix 50 grams of wheat flour with 50 milliliters of lukewarm water to make the pre-dough.
- 2. Cover the bowl with cling film.
- 3. Let the pre-dough rise for 24 hours at room temperature.
- 4. Sift the remaining wheat flour into a large bowl.
- 5. Sprinkle the salt over the flour.
- 6. Dissolve the yeast and sugar in 350 milliliters of lukewarm water.
- 7. Pour the yeast solution and the pre-dough into the flour bowl.
- 8. Knead the ingredients into a smooth dough using the dough hooks of an electric mixer.
- 9. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise for 45 minutes in a warm place.
- 10. Sprinkle some flour on the work surface.
- 11. Knead the dough briefly.
- 12. Divide the dough into two equal portions.
- 13. Shape each portion into a round ball.
- 14. Place the dough balls on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
- 15. Cover the breads and let them rise again for 45 minutes in a warm place.
- 16. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees.
- 17. Score the tops of the breads diagonally in a cross pattern, about half a centimeter deep, using a sharp knife.
- 18. Brush the breads with milk.
- 19. Place the baking tray in the center of the preheated oven.
- 20. Bake the breads for 10 minutes.
- 21. Pour a cup of water onto the oven floor.
- 22. Close the oven door immediately.
- 23. Bake the breads for another 20 minutes until golden brown.
- 24. Remove the breads from the oven.
- 25. Place them on a wire cooling rack.
- 26. Let the breads cool down completely.
