Ingredients
- 350 g flour
- 200 g cold butter (in pieces)
- 175 g sugar
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 400 g powdered sugar
- 2 egg whites
- food coloring (supermarket)
- sugar pearls
Instructions
- 1. Knead all dough ingredients quickly into a smooth dough.
- 2. Shape the dough into a ball.
- 3. Wrap the dough ball in cling film.
- 4. Place the foil in the refrigerator for about 2 hours.
- 5. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
- 6. Dust a work surface with flour.
- 7. Take dough pieces in portions.
- 8. Roll out the dough pieces on a floured surface.
- 9. Ensure the dough is about 3 to 4 millimeters thick.
- 10. Cut out stars with a diameter of about 8 centimeters.
- 11. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
- 12. Place the dough stars on the prepared tray.
- 13. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
- 14. Remove the cookies from the oven.
- 15. Let the cookies cool down completely.
- 16. Separate the egg whites from the eggs.
- 17. Whisk the egg whites with powdered sugar.
- 18. Divide the icing into several small bowls.
- 19. Color the icing portions with food coloring.
- 20. Use red color for the hat and coat.
- 21. Use brown color for hands, boots, and belt.
- 22. Use yellow color for the belt buckle.
- 23. Brush the cookies for the hat and coat with red icing.
- 24. Fill the other colored icings into piping bags.
- 25. Cut off a small corner from each bag.
- 26. Apply the icings for the details onto the cookies.
- 27. Wait after each color application until the icing has dried.
- 28. Garnish the faces with sugar pearls.
