🍽️ Christmas Apple Dessert with Meringue

Ingredients
- 3 Apples
- 1 unpeeled Orange
- 2 tbsp Honey
- 0.5 Cinnamon stick
- 1 pinch Clove powder
- 4 Speculoos cookies
- 2 Egg whites
- 50 g Powdered sugar
Instructions
- 1. Peel the apples and remove the core.
- 2. Cut the apple flesh into small cubes.
- 3. Wash the orange thoroughly with hot water.
- 4. Dry the orange.
- 5. Finely grate the orange zest.
- 6. Squeeze the juice from the orange.
- 7. Place the apple cubes, orange juice, honey, cinnamon, and cloves in a pot.
- 8. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- 9. Simmer the mixture for about 5 minutes.
- 10. Remove the pot from the heat when the apples are soft.
- 11. Remove the cinnamon sticks from the mixture.
- 12. Puree the apple mixture finely.
- 13. Strain the puree through a sieve.
- 14. Distribute the apple compote evenly into four small heat-resistant glasses.
- 15. Allow the compote to cool.
- 16. Preheat the oven to 220°C (top heat).
- 17. Crumble the cookies over the cooled compote.
- 18. Whip the egg whites to stiff peaks.
- 19. Gradually sprinkle the powdered sugar into the egg whites.
- 20. Continue whipping until the mixture is firm and forms peaks.
- 21. Gently fold the orange zest into the meringue mixture.
- 22. Distribute the meringue evenly over the glasses.
- 23. Place the glasses under the grill in the oven.
- 24. Bake the meringue for 2 to 5 minutes.
- 25. Remove the glasses when the meringue is light brown and forms peaks.
- 26. Enjoy the dessert best immediately.
